Laguna Camp and Bungalow Resort is situated only 180km’s north of Mozambique’s capital Maputo. Set in a prime location on top of the sand dunes overlooking the breath-taking Uembje lagoon. Surrounded by coconut palms, white sandy lagoon beaches and glimmering blue waters. 

The tranquil setting is perfect for the discerning holiday maker wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to relax. Bilene is the nearest local town located a short 7kms from Laguna and is easily accessible by regular vehicles driving with care. 4×4’s are required when pulling a boat, caravan or trailer. 

Laguna has been carefully laid out with great consideration to our guests to not overcrowd our haven and allow each group or family to enjoy the privacy amongst the beauty. The campsites and chalets are nestled between shady trees. 

The resort has a fully licensed restaurant and bar with a beer garden wrapped around the swimming pool. The menu is standard and comprises of traditional Mozambican dishes that are delectable such as peri-peri chicken and mouth-watering seafood as well as Prego’s for the discerning meat lover. 

Laguna has its own private beach on the banks of the lagoon which is an easy walk down from the resort area. The lagoon gently slopes from shallow to deep water and allows you and your family to enjoy the cool calm waters.

There are 12 campsites which can accommodate up to 8 people per stand, with plenty of space to set up camp and park your car and boat if you bring one.

Below are some of the general questions we normally get asked. Please feel free to contact us should you have any additional questions.

From Maputo take the NS1 verso Xai Xai. Travel 150 km to Macia, turn right for 30 km to Prajo do Bilene. In the circle turn left, keep left. On the T-Junction turn left. After the small market is a small turn off the Nhabanga and the sign to Laguna Camp. Follow the Laguna signs for 8 km or contact us for assistance.

If travelling on a South African passport you will need to apply for a visa to Mozambique if going for business purposes. if visiting for Tourism purposes, visa is exempt for a 30 day entry. Many other passport holders do require a visa for Mozambique and it’s best to check directly  with the Mozambique Embassy in the country you reside in.

Your passport must be valid for 6 months after your return date and you must have 2 open pages in your passport

The town of Macia has a Shoprite including Shoprite liquor offering you the opportunity to purchase chicken, vegetables and all your general household requirements.

Macia also has a Build-It store offering tyres and auto  parts as well as AutoBank machines from FNB, Standard Bank as well as the local banks. These will allow you to draw cash using either credit or debit card.

The lagoon edge allows for long languid beach strolls as you explore the surrounding areas. Drive your 4 x 4 down to the beach to launch your boat and supplies.

We can assist with day trip to the lagoon mouth to take in the beauty of the Indian Ocean.

Fishing on the lagoon or at the lagoon mouth.

Deepsea fishing trips are available with a few Operators in the area.

Try beach fishing if you have brought your own fishing gear.

The private beach in front of Laguna’s beach sand is soft and children spend hours building sandcastles and forts, while their parents relax and soak up the sun.

You can swim, snorkel, fish, kayak, jet ski and do many other amazing water sports in the lagoon.

Knowing that travel times are variable based on traffic and driving speed we allow check in on arrival. To allow for chalet and boma clean-up we ask that you check out no later than 9am.

The restaurant is fully licenced and offers a wide selection of local Mozambican dishes to satisfy your appetite with special seafood platters and local drinks.

The restaurant is open daily from 7am to 10pm, dinner reservation to be made before 6pm.

Private functions can be catered for by prior arrangement.

Drinks and snacks are served in the beer garden and pool side.

The restaurants enclosed patio area has an amazing view of the lagoon.
